There is probably no nicer place in the whole of Christmasland for a Christmas market than the one around the town hall in Pirna. Inspired by the Italian painter Canaletto, who honored the sandstone city in 11 famous views, the Canalettomarkt, the Pirna Christmas market, has been taking place here since 2013. It is one of the few markets in this country that is still open after the holidays. For some, the Canaletto market, known for its unique lighting concept and wonderful town hall projections, is still an insider tip. For others, especially families and the many guests from the Czech Republic, it has long been one of the most beautiful Saxon Christmas markets.
