The invincible private detective Nick Carter comes to Prague to solve a case that the local police can't handle. He is equipped with a brilliant mind and the latest groundbreaking inventions and has effortlessly learned the Czech language on his way from New York. On the ground, however, especially in the picturesque pubs over a glass of beer, he realizes that everything works a little differently in the Czech Republic than in America. Will he succeed in foiling the diabolical plans of the criminal Count of Kratzmar and saving the innocence of the lovely Květuška?
This parody of cheap detective novels was made in 1977 by Oldřich Lipský based on an idea and screenplay by Jiří Brdečka. The realization of the film brought together a number of important personalities. The director cast famous actors even for small roles, Theodor Pištěk designed impressive costumes, Jan Švankmajer contributed in the form of artistic collaboration and animation, and Luboš Fišer composed the music. The result is a timeless comedy that can be watched again and again, as it provides great entertainment every time.
