Power Station - Dresden Energy Museum

The museum will close on 31.12.2023 and is expected to reopen at the end of 2026 after renovation!

The supply of electricity, gas, district heating and water has decisively shaped our time and fundamentally changed private and economic life. For over 180 years, Dresden's Mitte power plant was initially an important center for gas and later electricity generation. The site where energy was produced until a few years ago is now home to DREWAG's Dresden Energy Museum "KraftWerk". Electricity comes out of the socket, water from the tap and gas burns on the hob! But there is a long technical process before this happens. The "KraftWerk" proves that this doesn't have to be boring, with exhibits, unique items and testimonies from over 100 years ago. Exciting multimedia shows tell the story of Dresden's gas supply or show the path of water - from the source to recycling - in a way that is suitable for children.
