Mšené-lázně is a cozy little spa not far from the town of Roudnice. The facility was founded in 1796 because the local water helped one of Prince Kinsky's directors to get better stomach problems. Today, it is mainly used to treat musculoskeletal and nervous system problems.
The main house Říp and the houses Praděd and Slovanka still remain from the beginnings. The other four buildings were added at the beginning of the 20th century, including the Dvorana house in the Art Nouveau style . In addition to the interesting and diverse spa architecture, the small spa park is also worth seeing. Very close by, next to the railway line, the ruins of the unfinished Nepomuk Church still offer a somewhat morbid charm.
The village is also home to Mšené Castle, which probably dates back to the 15th century and, after several renovations, is now mainly in the neo-Renaissance style (but is not accessible). A short walk through the agricultural village is definitely worthwhile.
The spa offers overnight accommodation and is therefore suitable for both day trips and stays lasting several days.
