Freital Municipal Collections at Burgk Palace

Combination of local history, mining history and picture gallery

Surrounded by an idyllic park, Burgk Castle is not just a tourist pearl, but the treasure trove of the city of Freital. The former residence of Baron Dathe von Burgk now houses the municipal collections. In addition to top-class works of art, for example by Otto Dix and Willy Kriegel, you can trace the 500-year history of hard coal mining in the region and the eventful history of the city. In addition, there are regularly selected special exhibitions. Attractions are the visitor mine, a mining adventure playground and the world's first electric mine locomotive.
