The gallery and museum are located in a protected monument: a Late Gothic row house with a stepped gable roof on the marketplace of Litoměřice. The date 1513 is inscribed in a window profile in the first upper storey. This unique architectural jewel has housed the collections of the Litoměřice Diocese since 1995. The collections were founded in 1885 and are accordingly among the oldest of the former Austrian monarchy. After 1989 they were reopened to the public. Among the highlights are the Romanesque sculptures of the Evangelists and a stone head from the church in Zitenice dating from the years 1180-90, as well as the 1494 panel painting of the "Madonna" by the Master of the Tiburtine Sibyl and the painting of "Saint Anthony" by Lucas Cranach the Elder. Works by Karel Škréta, Antonín Kern, Václav Vavřinec Reiner and Matyáš Bernard Braun represent the Baroque era. The annex in the courtyard dates from Late Gothic era, its gallery from the Renaissance. Today an exhibition of naïve art is on view there. Don't miss the secluded sculpture garden bordered by the town wall to the back of the building.
