Meissen Municipal Museum

Muzeum je umístěno od roku 1901 ve Františkánském kostele

Since 1901, the municipal museum has been located in the Franciscan monastery church consecrated in 1266, and it thus offers a very special combination of architectural experience and Meissen town history. The collection on display in 1901 already encompassed medieval sculptures, Meissen porcelain, major objects such as Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld's original cartoons, the Town Hall wine press dating from 1788 and an eleven-metre-long Elbe fishing boat. Also on view are objects relating to early history, navigation and wine-growing, as well as to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy. In the cloisters, tombstones dating from five centuries can be seen.
