The Větruše (German: Ferdinandshöhe) is a popular destination, practically located in the city center of Ústí nad Labem. The elevation offers a beautiful view of the other side of the Elbe valley, Střekov Castle with the Masaryk lock, Mariánská skála and the city. The visitor has the opportunity to observe the surroundings from the observation deck or climb the tower built above, which is part of the castle restaurant. There is also a nature and mirror maze for children.
Větruše is the starting point for hikers along the 4 km long nature trail Větruše - Vrkoč (basalt rock formation). There are nine information boards about the surrounding nature along the way. On the way you can also see the Vaňovský waterfall - the largest waterfall in Ústí nad Labem. In winter, when the temperature drops below zero, it turns into an icefall.
Since 2010, a cable car has led directly up to Větruše from the Forum shopping center in the city center. It is operated by the municipal transport company DPmÚL and is barrier-free accessible. The travel times are in the winter season from October to April from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from May to September from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., services every 15 minutes. A special tariff applies, integrated tariffs and Elbe-Labe tickets are not recognized. Further information: www.dpmul.cz/dalsi-sluzby/lanova-draha
