Větruše (German: Ferdinandshöhe) is a popular destination, practically located in the city centre. It offers a beautiful view of the Střekov side of the Elbe Valley, the castle Střekov, the locks, Mariánská skála and the city. The visitor can look over the surroundings from the viewing platform or climb the tower built above it, which is part of the restaurant. There is also a nature and mirror labyrinth for children.
Větruše is a starting point for hikers along the 4 km long nature trail Větruše - Vrkoč (basalt rock formation). On the path there are 9 information boards about the surrounding nature. On the way you can also see the Vaňovský waterfall - the biggest waterfall in Ústí nad Labem. In winter, when the temperature falls below zero, it turns into an icefall.
A special feature is that since 2010 a cable car has been running from the town centre up to Větruše. The lower station is located in the OC Forum. The cable car is barrier-free and operates from 8:00 to 20:00.
