Dymník

Lookout tower on basalt columns

From the tower, on a clear day, you can look over the Ještěd (Jeschken) near Liberec to the Jizera Mountains and Giant Mountains. Turning right, the view goes into the Bohemian Central Mountains range with the prominent Milešovka (Milleschauer), in the east to Děčínský Sněžník (Schneeberg) us to the Ore Mountains and in the north to Bieleboh and Czorneboh in Saxony.

The 15 m high lookout tower with 79 steps was built in 1896 by the entrepreneur Augustin Wenschuh from Rumburk. Originally it was called August Tower.

In the autumn of 2010, a nature trail over 4 km long was built by the "Lesy ČR" company in the surroundings of the Dymník Hill. It begins at the Rumburg open-air swimming pool and forms a circle leading first to the Podhájí pond, then in the forest to the top of the Dymník Hill and from there back to the open-air swimming pool. On 8 locations, illustrated information boards provide brief information about the local nature, forests and forestry.
