Northernmost lookout tower in Czechia at 598 m asl

The observation tower at 598 m above sea level on Tanečnice (Tanzplan) is the northernmost lookout tower in the Czech Republic. The octagonal structure was opened in 1905.

From its platform you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland, the Lusatian Mountains and the hilly Schluckenauer Zipfel. On a clear day you can see as far as the Ore Mountains and even the Jizera and Giant Mountains.

At the foot of the mountain you can refresh yourself in Mikulášovice in the pretty outdoor swimming pool. On the other side, in Sebnitz, you can visit the primeval park.

From the Czech side you can reach the peak on the blue marked hiking trail. From the railway stations Mikulášovice dolní nádraží directions_railway directions_bus and Mikulášovice střed directions_railway directions_bus the trail is about 3.5 km long each. From the forest parking lot below the peak it is only a short kilometre.

From the German side you can start the hike in Sebnitz. The path from the railway station directions_railway directions_bus is about 5 km long and leads past the primeval park.
