Founded in 1906 by the Royal Saxon Garden Inspector, the Schellerhau Botanical Garden is best known for its mountain flowers and plants and the bog biotope.
The garden area covers about 1.5 hectares, where plant species of the Ore Mountains flora and the alpine middle and high mountains of Europe, North America, Asia and from the Caucasus thrive due to a low annual average temperature of 5° C and the relatively safe, long-lasting snow cover. The garden area, situated on a slope, with its more than 1400 plants cultivated exclusively in the open, also offers, among other things, a bear worm meadow, a near-natural stone bridge and two ponds connected by a stream.
A highlight is the sound experience path Nature & Music, which creates melodic moments while playing the sound instruments.
